Faxing
Inbound Faxing
Your OfficeIPLink™ PBX has an inbound Fax capability which is based on the very reliable and industry proven fax engine.
The faxing capability can be used wth ISDN lines or PSTN lines. The advantage with ISDN lines is that you can assign one or several of your ISDN number range (remember as standard you receive 100 external numbers you can use) for fax numbers. This means you can have one or several virtual fax servers. Some clients have given each of their sales staff an individual fax number, and given the accounts department their own fax number.
Combined with the fax to email capability, it becomes a very powerful tool. Again if you have staff on the road or remote users, they can receive the faxes directly in their email as a PDF, again being able to be read by Windows Mobile and Blackberry Mobile phones. We use this facility ourselves quite heavily due to the amount of time we spend in the field.
In addition to the faxes being sent as emails, they still remain on the PBX, and can be accessed via a Web Interface by other staff if required.
Outbound Faxing
The OfficeIPLink™ PBX can also provide outbound fax capability. There are many desktop clients that can be used with the Outbound Faxing. There are some open source desktop software, right through to some commercial desktop software. Each desktop client has its own unique capabilities.
For those that have not used outbound faxing at all, in very simple terms, just about anything you can print to a printer, can be faxed. In fact, on many the desktop clients, it sets up a new printer, which you print to, to send a fax. If you don't use the embedded capability, it will pop up a small dialog box asking you to enter the fax number, or access an address book with the fax number.
We normally recommend the commercial desktop clients, especially for OfficeIPLink™ PBX clients who are using Windows Vista, or Windows Terminal Server products. Some of these clients also allow you to embed the phone number in the document (anywhere), so that the outbound faxing is fully automatic (it removes the embedded number before sending).
