OfficeIPLink™ PBX Systems fully support the use of separate in-dial numbers for your extensions. Naturally you need carrier lines that support this capability (e.g. they can provide you with multiple phone numbers).

ISDN/E1 carrier connections are well suited to this as you normally get (or are required to get) a group of 100 In-dial numbers to use as you wish. This means you can use any of the numbers as direct numbers for all or some of your extensions. Each extension can be setup with its own Public In-dial number, especially where your business is more suited to clients calling the staff member direct once an initial relationship is established.

You can also achieve Direct In-dial numbers if you have standard analog lines (PSTN), but naturally you are limited in numbers to the number of lines connected to your office (and these numbers cannot be part of a line hunt group). It is useful if you have one or two key people that need direct numbers, but once you reach 7 lines in your business, you are far better suited to an ISDN line which provides you with many additional features, and a flexibility that your office has probably never had before.

Direct In-dial numbers do not have to be used for staff direct numbers. You may want to setup one or more of the phone numbers to

  • Connect directly to the company's support line (i.e. directly to the support ring group or Support Call Queue)
  • Connect directly to the Conference Room(s)
  • Setup as incoming fax numbers
  • Setup as special advertising numbers. You setup a phone number for each of your advertising vehicles. This is a perfect way of working out which advertising is working for your business.
  • Setup a special number for job applicants to come in on. As they come in on a select number, your phones can show that it is a job applicant, allowing you to make a decision on taking the call, especially in busy times, or if the position has been filled. You could even direct it to an announcement telling them that the position has been filled.
  • Setup a direct number for possibly your top ten clients to receive priority service.

Your business may come up with another way of using Direct InDial numbers that we have not seen yet. As the direct in-dial numbers are configured on your OfficeIPLink™ PBX, you maintain control and choice of where these numbers are used. It allows a business to be very responsive to both the staffs needs and possibly the needs of the clients.
