OfficeIPLink™ PBX systems handle standard call transfers as most PBX Systems do.

You have the choice of Attended Transfers or Blind Transfers. For those that are not sure what these methods are or the terminology that is normally use, they are the following

Blind Transfer

A staff member has just received a call and need to transfer it to a colleague. They can perform a blind transfer, which means that the as the call is transferred, it immediately rings on the colleagues phone. At the point it starts ringing, the person transferring the call, can hang up. The person receiving the call, on picking up the receiver, will be connected to the external caller.

This is useful if you know the person is at their desk, or if you just need to get the phone call off your phone (e.g. you already had another call that you had placed on hold). Even if that person was not at their desk, at least the caller will be able to leave a voicemail (if enabled for that extension), or whatever function you have enabled in the event of a call not being answered (e.g. transfers to a mobile / returns to the receptionist)

Attended Transfer

A staff member receives a call and needs to transfer it to a colleague. They can perform an Attended Transfer, which means that as part of the transfer function, the other extension rings. If the colleague answers, the extension transferring the call, can announce the call to the other extension before pressing one button to transfer the call providing that the colleague wishes to take the call. As soon as you press the final transfer button, the call is immediately placed on the receiving colleagues handset, so that can commence talking to the incoming caller.

Alternatively, if the colleague does not answer their extension, or does not want to take the call at the time, you can take the call back and explain to the caller that you were not able to reach them, or that they were in a meeting. After discussion with the caller, you can even transfer direct to the colleagues voicemail if that was acceptable to the caller.

Other Information

Calls can also be transferred to Mobiles and other land lines, as simple as you would transfer a call between extensions.
